Dinamo Zagreb vs Chelsea

Through five game weeks of the 2022/23 EPL season, Chelsea currently sit with 7 points (a rather unconvincing 7 I might add). Chelsea have two wins (Everton & Leicester) by a margin of one goal a piece. It is worth noting that these two teams are currently 2 of the 3 winless teams remaining in the league.
Couple that with a non competitive performance away at Major Leeds United, and 7 points from 5 games feels like dodging a bullet. But the play from the blues hasn’t passed the eye test either.
A group of MLS alumni seemingly had their way with the London giants. Conor Gallagher made Tyler Adams look like N’Golo Kante throughout the match. Meanwhile Wake Forest/NYCFC Alumni Jack Harrison and Union Alumni Brenden Aaronson pressed Chelsea magnificently for 90 minutes. Brenden Aaronson even stole Edouard Mendy’s cookies, emphasizing a comical error with a no look goal.
Chelsea is currently largely favored (-235 on Draft Kings/-225 on Barstool) to win their match away at Dinamo Zagreb…. but that seems high for a team that beat Everton 1-0 (you know… the team that lost 4-0 to Minnesota United…).
Dinamo Zagreb have been solid at home, winning their last 4 home league games, and scoring 16 goals in the process. Whereas Chelsea have seemingly struggled on the road to start the season. Couple that with the gauntlet of compressed games coming up for the blues (5 games in less than 15 days) and this being the middle fixture in that stretch. I wouldn’t be shocked if Chelsea played more defensively and rotated players. That being said, Chelsea has the players and depth to pull this off. But given their current stretch and form, I don’t see the blues suddenly changing overnight.
With Dinamo Zagreb sitting atop their league table with a +15 goal differential, I fully expect them to take advantage of Chelsea’s early miscues with a brace.
